This porched square, designed by the architect Juan Gómez de Mora, is the true heart of Madrid. Every day, it gathers mimes, painters, portrait artists, street musicians, living statues and a large number of locals and tourists that go to its bars and terraces to enjoy the excellent atmosphere. Also, the square hosts one of Spain’s most famous Christmas markets here every year.
