Una noche de teatro en Madrid

The Teatro Español, in the centrally located Plaza de Santa Ana, is undoubtedly another great theatre that, for its history and programme, deserves a space in the schedules of theatre loves. Also great theatres are the more official Teatros del Canal, who belong to the Regional Government of Madrid, inaugurated in 2009 under the artistic guidance of Albert Boadella.

Inside the alternative circuit, special attention is aimed at the recent trend of micro-theatre, a phenomenon that has been greatly enjoyed by the audience with plays of between ten and thirty minutes of duration, in reduced spaces and with a tight bond between the audience and the actors. Microteatro Por Dinero, a few yards from the Gran Vía, is one of the most committed spaces with this brief and young genre.

Other alternative stages that enjoy a good reputation are La Puerta Estrecha, Sala Cuarta Pared, Teatro de las Aguas and, in a more intermediate format, Teatro del Arte, who opened its doors in 2011; or Teatro de la Abadía, directed by the prestigious drama figure José Luis Gómez, member of the Spanish Royal Academy.

And, of course, the solemn Teatro Real or the theatres on the Gran Vía, with their large offer of musicals and commercial plays, without forgetting about the famous Festival de Otoño a Primavera, a festival that concludes on June 29th.

In our establishment we are committed to culture and we are one of the most popular art-orientated hotels in Madrid, working on the promotion of culture and organising events such as the Wagnerian social gatherings. Our location -on Calle Arenal, next to the Puerta del Sol and a few hundred yards from the Teatro Real and the great theatres on the Gran Vía- also makes us one of the best options for those coming to see plays in Madrid.
