#PassioneItalia, the event for pasta and pizza enthusiasts

There’s a saying in Italy that goes: “Mangiare è uno dei quattro scopi della vita… quali siano gli altri tre, nessuno lo ha mai saputo”. Which means, eating is one of the four goals of life… but no one knows which are the other three. If we combine one of life’s biggest pleasures with delicious Italian gastronomy, the result is #PassioneItalia.

It is the main event in Spain for promoting Italian excellence in different fields, even though the most famous one is without a doubt its gastronomy. This event, held every year in Madrid, coincides with the Italian Republic Day. This year it will take place on 31 May and 1-2 June in Matadero. Below we tell you what you cannot miss this year.

Gastronomy

Enjoy the best Italian food at the multiple food trucks you will find at #PassioneItaliana. Cooked on the spot, you can order pizza, pasta, lasagna, risotto and other Italian products like arancini or gourmet porchetta sandwiches. To better withstand the heat, there’s nothing better than an Italian ice cream. And to not falter while partying, wrap up your meal with the world’s best ristretto.

Make sure you don’t miss the Campari area to enjoy the best Italian drink as if you were on a Mediterranean beach. Try the famous Spritz or learn how to make a Negroni – have you ever tried any of these drinks? It is also the perfect place for children, as there are plenty of buckets and spades for them to make sandcastles with.

Furthermore, you can participate in different live cooking events and meetings with professionals from the food sector. Learn to prepare the best Italian recipes, like pappardelle al ragù or the world-famous lasagna. You will also find different tasting spaces and typical Italian ingredients for sale, including mozzarella or sundried tomatoes.

Italian concerts

Every evening you can enjoy the greatest hits of Italian music with live performances by some of Italy’s most popular emerging talents that have made it onto the international stage. You can also enjoy traditional dances like the tarantella. What’s more, after the concerts you can dance the night away to the best international music courtesy of several DJ’s.

Activities for children

During the whole day, kids will be able to join different workshops, including one of Italian cuisine. For some hours, the smallest members of the family can turn into MasterChefs. They will also be able to ride a fun Ferris wheel.

Want to learn more about Italian culture and gastronomy without leaving Madrid? This is without a doubt a unique opportunity.
