Madrid, golf capital

Golf lovers do not need to leave Madrid in order to practice their favourite sport, since there is a place in the city centre where they can improve their swing. Golf Canal organises year-long courses for adults and children but can also offer personalised options of shorter duration if you write to them at escuelagolf@golfcanal.com.

On the outskirts of Madrid, the region has 34 golf courses, such as Las Rejas, Las Encinas de Boadilla or Club de Golf Aranjuez. La Moraleja is one of the most important ones, not only in Madrid but also in Spain, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2016. It has four 18-hole courses and a 3-par one, thus making it the one with the most choices in the whole country. In this document you can find all the information you need on the rates, which range from 33 to 65 euros for guest players (non-members). The cheapest option is the short holes on weekdays and the most expensive one is for courses 3 and 4 on weekends, at a cost of 120 euros.

Club de Campo Villa de Madrid is another highly recommended option thanks to its two courses and its pitch-and-putt course. They say that it’s somewhat outdated but its beautiful groves and magnificent views of Madrid from the west more than make up for that. This club has courses designed by Seve Ballesteros himself and enjoys excellent transport connections by car, just 15 minutes from Madrid on Carretera de Castilla. The green fee for non-members is more expensive than La Moraleja, standing at 107 euros (access fees included) during weekdays and 120 on weekdays.

Lastly, if possible, golf lovers must visit Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro. It’s an invitation-only, private, exclusive and select club and has been since its foundation in 1904.
