A tour of Madrid’s best rooftop terraces

By | 10 May, 2024 | 0 comments

The local expression ‘de Madrid al cielo’ (from Madrid to heaven) is as true to life as it gets. Madrid is home to many beautiful rooftop terraces that are perfect for relaxing after a long day’s sightseeing or enjoying premium cocktails with your partner or in the company of friends. If you would like to discover some of the best rooftop terraces in Madrid, join us on our tour.

The most recent addition to the list: Nota Alta

The first on the list is one of this season’s novelties. In the words of the owners, this is the first rooftop in Madrid that combines creative cocktails with the best sushi-style tapas. Highlights of the traditional sushi menu include such original creations as the Iberian pork roll with melon or the torrezno (bacon) uramaki. Among the cocktail options, don’t forget to try the Lady Mermelade (gin, Maraschino liqueur, Campari, lemon juice and rose syrup) or the Sangre Castiza (whisky, triple sec, red wine, orange juice, peach puree, cinnamon syrup and egg white).

The Penthouse by Wow

In the heart of Gran Vía lies a restaurant that is designed to evoke the ambience of a New York apartment of the 70s. The menu was created by Grupo Triciclo, so quality is guaranteed. The restaurant offers a choice of two very original dining rooms, one located in a library, the other in a recording studio, and the menu features authentic gastronomic delights such as dressed oysters, homemade torreznos (bacon) with herring roe and herb salad, Iberian pork shoulder with traditional mustard and grilled lettuce hearts or corn crème caramel with pineapple ice cream and kikos… and be sure not to miss the wonderful terrace overlooking one of the city’s most emblematic thoroughfares.

Torcuato

One of Madrid’s most elegant streets is home to a restaurant with eclectic décor and a beautiful rooftop terrace that is perfect for watching the sun go down. Among the gastronomic proposals we recommend the Russian salad with tuna tartar, the garlic prawn croquette with kimchi and tartar, the grilled octopus with Wikei red mojo, or the aged beef cutlet tataki. And to finish off the evening, sample one of the delicious desserts, such as the creamy chocolate cake with toasted buttercream ice cream, or one of their famous cocktails, our favourite being the Classic Pisco Sour (Pisco Demonio de los Andes, lime juice, agave syrup and chipotle).

Now that the good weather is here, these three rooftop terraces offer the perfect setting for rounding off the day in the best possible way.
