Another important place to follow the train of the author of The Family of Carlos IV is the Real Academia of San Fernando, on Calle Alcalá, 13, which is considered Madrid’s second most important museum. On the walls of this museum you can find 13 famous paintings by Goya, some easily recognised and studied such as The Burial of the Sardine, located next to the rest of paintings in the distinguished Baroque palace of Goyeneche. Opening times from 10.00am until 3.00pm from Tuesday to Sunday, with ticket prices at 6 euros.
We finish this Goya tour in the chapel, or chapels rather, of San Antonio de la Florida. Such is its value that a replica was built of this small temple whose vault contains paintings that for some symbolise the transition from Classic art to the modern era. It takes about ten minutes by foot from Príncipe Pío station. Goya is worth this and much more.
