The castle de Manzanares el Real is a medieval palace-fortress located in the province of Madrid. Built in XV century, it was the residential palace of the House of Mendoza, one of the most influential lineages of Castilla during the Early Middles Ages. Now, thousands of years later, we can visit its main rooms, through the family Mendoza.
How is this possible? Don Íñigo López de Mendoza and his daughter Brianda travel back in time to guide us through the castle rooms. In this theatrical visit we will be travelling to Medieval and Renaissance times and we will be the protagonists of fights between father and daughter. While Brianda is a bookworm and loves going on adventures, in other words, a free spirit who seeks freedom, her father is more conservative and not really into change.
The theatrical visit to this castle lasts around 45 minutes. Two actors interpret a play written exclusively for them and they develop the story as they explain to us the artistic content of every room and some daily scenes of Medieval and Spanish Renaissance.
The perfect plan to spend the day with your family, since the little ones of the house will turn into the main characters in the plot between Don Íñigo López de Mendoza and his daughter Brianda. If you fancy going, remember you have to book first, because the capacity is limited.
You can go on Saturdays and Sundays all year round in one of the passes: the first one at 11.00 and the second one at 12.00. You can also go at night in the months of July, August and September at 21.00, 22.00, and 23.00, although this proposal is not suitable for the little ones of the house.
The price? Tickets for adults cost 8 euros and tickets for children between 6 and 14 years of age and adults between 60 and 80 years of age cost 4 euros.
If you are going to visit Madrid with your family in the following weeks, this is the ideal plan if you want your kids to visit not only a unique enclave as the castle Manzanares El Real, but also to learn the history of one of the most beautiful eras of Madrid’s history.
